years: 2011-2012
Madness on Midland is one of several elaborate yard displays and home haunts located in the Joliet area. Along with the large professional haunt that is Statesville Haunted Prison, there are some excellent homemade displays including Count Kuhajda's Haunted House and Agony. Madness on Midland can also be added to this list, making for a full evening of haunt touring pleasure!

Although not as elaborate as some of the other haunt displays in the area, Madness on Midland is still well worth a look. It has been operating in some form or another since 2001, and is a true labor of love. The display mostly consists of various props, both animated and static, including creepy clowns and grim reaper type figures. Most of the props are homemade, which not only is a step up from typical store bought items, but also showcases the love and dedication that goes into setting the display up.
The haunt makes effective use of the space available, including life size figures on the lawn, reclining on the porch, and in one of the many front windows of the house. All of the props are complemented by eerie lighting, so the entire display really comes alive at night. We recommend going after dusk to get the full effect.
In addition to the display itself, on certain nights there are live actors added to the mix. We've seen various actors, including a rather large Jason Voorhees, prowling the display and scaring visitors. All in all it's a nice setup, with lots to see and some great, effective use of space and lighting, so feel free to check it out if you are in the Joliet area - it will definitely be worth your while!
