The Tourers visited this first time haunt in 2010 after securing free passes. The Fear Haunted House at Navy Pier Chicago was a sister haunted house to Statesville Haunted Prison and operated from 2010 to 2012 at Navy Pier with plans to relocate starting in 2013. The quality of actor enthusiasm and props as well as setup are on par with Statesville, but there is not as much to see and even with the lower price this is Navy Pier so you may have to include a hefty price tag for parking and gas for fighting rush hour traffic, but if you wanted to make a day of it and visit the Pier and everything around it that could make it worth your while.
2010 was also the year that saw the now all too familiar haunt prop - starting with this haunt particular - that Paul absolutely hates - the giant inflatable hallway - usually black that you have to squeeze through to get to the other side - there are never, and we mean NEVER! any props to see within these things and only on the rarest occasions are there ever any live actors within them, we find them almost as bad as those dark walk through mazes with nothing in them, much more annoying than scary or interesting.
There was some excellent wait entertainment - much the same as at Statesville - this included an actor with a Creeper (from Jeepers Creepers) costume complete with mask that would unfold at you when the actor walked up to your face - he scared a lot of people. There was also another actor whose costume included stilts so he would tower over whatever victims he chose to terrorize next.
There were some nice props and rooms in this haunt but overall the pricey location was the main deterrent that kept us from returning. This haunt did not take that long to walk through, maybe around 10 minutes, which is lower for such a pricey haunt, but we realize they had to pay a lot for this location so we think they did an excellent job for what they had to work with.
