Sunny Acres was another 2012 first for the Tourers. We actually stumbled upon this yard display while in the Mokena area, not realizing that it had a name. We enjoyed it the first time, but there were no live actors and we just assumed that it was a static display. Later in the season, we visited Mokena again and this time we knew that the display we stumbled upon a few weeks before was actually Sunny Acres. This time live actors were present as well.

On the night of our second visit, we were greeted by a live actress dressed as a zombified nurse. She welcomed us and offered us candy, which is always a plus! In addition to the nurse, there was a creepy girl with a doll face who stood motionless in the middle of the display. She didn't move until we actually entered the front yard - points for actor self control for sure! Other live actors included Mike Meyers, a chainsaw maniac, and one oft he best clowns we have seen in a display. This clown was in the background of the display and he stood motionless for quite a long time while we talked with the other actors. In fact, he stood still until we were almost on top of his part of the display, when he suddenly leapt out. As he was partially hidden and we were not really looking at him, he could have easily moved before and we might not have noticed, but be stayed in character and stood so still that we all were fooled into thinking he was just a prop. Easily one of the best live actor additions to a yard display we have seen.,

Overall, Sunny Acres presents various displays, including several with a medical them, which is where the name comes from. It featured various torture scenes, a creepy pumpkin patch, a surgeon operating on an unfortunate patient, and even a torture wheel. While most of the displays were static, there were a few animated props, and the addition of live actors really brought the display to life. Kudos to all of the actors involved as they did their best to give us some scares, and even succeeded on a few occasions. When you have been to as many haunts as we have you tend to get a bit jaded, so it's nice when someone goes that extra mile to make it worthwhile.

Sunny acres is definitely recommended if you are exploring haunts in the Mokena area - go on a night with live actors for even more fun!
