Resurrection Graveyard was one of the first home haunts that we ever went to, and one that helped convince us that home haunts could be just as good, if not better, than some pay haunts. Located in Evergreen Park, this haunt is run by a father/son team. The father used to work at Resurrection Cemetery (the home of the famous ghost Resurrection Mary), and actually features a sign from the cemetery in the display.

Having been  in the touring business for over a
decade now, we have seen a lot of  haunts of all types, and  It takes a lot to impress us when it comes to haunted  houses, so creativity and enthusiasm go a long
way, and Resurrection Graveyard has both..

The haunt consists of over a dozen rooms of various themes, including a church service, a funeral parlor, a meat locker, and a child's room. Although the space is small, the operators manage to squeeze a large amount of rooms into the haunt, and all of them have individual themes and
scenes. It easily rivals some of the pay haunts we have gone to. All of the sets are very well designed, and  great use is made of the limited space in the haunters' driveway. We  were amazed at how much was done with so little.

Live actors populated all of the rooms, all of whom stayed in character throughout. Some of the scares inside the haunt were on the level of a number of pay haunts we have visited. Additionally, there were a lot of live actors outside of the haunt as well, including the father and son team. On this particular visit, the father was dragging a pitchfork and walking with a limp, and the son was dressed as an accident victim. Both were very effective.

Do yourself a favor  and make it out to Resurrection Graveyard, if only to get an idea of just how  inventive a home haunt can be. If you check it out you will not be disappointed. There's a lot  to look at, and there's always something new. The actor enthusiasm can't be beat, and since it's free you don't have to worry about wasting your  money on a mediocre haunt.

Resurrection Graveyard is one of those haunts that makes you feel like you should be paying for it. We'd have no problem paying for that kind of entertainment, so  we make a point of donating to keep the haunt going. It's at the top of our  "don't miss" spots every year!

According to the operators, this haunt can get as many as 1,000 people on Halloween night, and we can certainly see why. One has to admire the dedication of these home haunters, who do all of this just for the love of the season. Very highly rated, and a haunt that we make sure to visit each year.
