There are so many things we can say about Resurrection Graveyard, but one thing we can definitely say is that you always know what you're going to get. Unlike some haunts, where quality varies from year to year and visit to visit, Resurrection Graveyard provides a quality experience every single time. There is no doubt that whenever you go you will be treated to a dedicated set of actors who will put on a great show for you, simply for the love of doing it.
Case in point was our most recent visit. It was early in the season, and it was cold and rainy, and weren't having the best of times visiting various haunts, but then we realized that Resurrection Graveyard was open and close to our Touring area, so we decided to pay a visit. Within a few minutes of arriving, the cold and the rain became unimportant, as the welcoming (crazy) family atmosphere of Resurrection Graveyard took over. It was fun just standing outside watching the actors terrify other visitors. When you can have fun just doing that you know you're going to a good haunt! For those that might not know, Resurrection Graveyard has all of the qualities of a professional haunt without actually being professional. It's all done on the owner's property. Yes, an entire haunt with multiple rooms in someone's driveway. Sounds cheesy, right? Well, don't judge by appearances, as this haunt is just as professional as many we could name, and has as much heart and enthusiasm on the part of the actors as any professional haunt does. In fact, other than the location, there really isn't anything that separates Resurrection Graveyard from haunts that operate in commercial spaces in terms of the "professional" moniker. This year the haunt has been expanded, and includes a new route inside and some new areas around the back of the house. It was certainly fine as it was, but it was cool to see the new layout and design. Even the front of the house was changed - this year it resembled a mausoleum with a coffin coming out of one of the vaults. Creepy for sure, but with a touch of black comedy included. The new layout of the inside of the haunt really expands it and is a clever design that incorporates some twisty corridors and dark space, just enough to disorient people but not too much as to make them want to leave the haunt - a good balance. All of the great scenes from last year are here, including the crazy cannibal apartment, the dentist's office (if you think you're scared of the dentist now, wait till you see this!), the clown room, the mental ward, and more. Each has been redesigned and in some cases enlarged, but the core details that make the mall so interesting remain. For instance, the cannibal apartment, which was later in the haunt last year, is now in the beginning, in a larger space that allows visitors to see more of the details of the setup.
And, as always, extra special mention must be given to the actors. All of the mare top notch, and you can tell they have a lot of fun with visitors. They are always in character, acting as if visitors are simply disturbing their normal routine. Excellent makeup and masks abound, so many that it's hard to choose just one favorite. We love the twitchy nurse with the syringe in her eye (and extra credit for having two twitchy nurses in the same room this year), the dentist with his special dental "tools", the crazy cannibal lunatic in the shed, who not only has a great costume but is also hilarious. It's that mix of fun and creepiness that makes Resurrection Graveyard such a wonderful experience. Oh, and Resurrection Graveyard has one thing no other haunt has - Squiggles! He has to be experienced to be fully appreciated, but suffice it to say that he elevates the haunt to a new level all on his own! There are simply not enough words to describe the fun that is Resurrection Graveyard. We can honestly say that if you could only visit one haunted house this Halloween season, you should choose Resurrection Graveyard. You won't regret it! You can't go wrong with Resurrection Graveyard. It is simply a MUST VISIT for anyone who really wants to get a great Halloween experience. It's not impersonal, where you get shuttled through the haunt like cattle. On the contrary, it's a bunch of people who love what they do and who are willing to provide a great experience for visitors. You can't ask for more than that. It didn't take us long to find one of our top haunts of the 2014 season. It's no surprise, really, and you'll understand if you pay a visit. Go ahead. Do yourself a favor. Go more than once, and bring along some new unsuspecting victims on your repeat visits. We guarantee you'll love it, and if you don't, well, we'll let Squiggles deal with you! |
