Nightmare Village was a yard siaply located in Oak Lawn that the Tourers visited in 2011. The Oak Lawn/Burbank area has a lot of home haunts and yard displays, many of them quite good. Nightmare Village is one that had been running on and off for a few years, usually under different names. 2011 proved to be its biggest (and, so far, last) year of operation.

The display itself was the brainchild of a young haunter, only 15 years old and, according to what he told us, pretty experienced at doing yard displays as he had been doing them since he was seven.

2011 displays included a cannibal;s table and refrigerator, a glowing red coffin, electric chair, tombstones, spiders, impaled victims and a lot more. All of the displays were created by this young gentleman, who was most enthusiastic about doing them. One of the highlights for 2011 was to be a spinning torture wheel (which was not completed when we visited) that would use a strobe and smoke effects. It sounded good, but unfortunately we were not able to check back to see if it had been completed.

Overall, the display showed a good amount of promise, and we looked forward to seeing it in 2012, but alas, it was not there. Here's hoping it will be resurrected in 2013. As one learns in the world of home haunts and yard displays, nothing is impossible!
