John’s Home Haunt is a yard display located on the south
side of Chicago, and one of the many brand new haunts we have visited for 2013.
Primarily, the display consists of inflatable Halloween props, some small props
on the lawn, and various moving and static lights that bathe the entire display
in a festive glow.
It’s clear from approaching the display that John’s Home Haunt goes for the more “fun” aspects of Halloween than the scary ones, which is different but not bad at all. Some of the inflatable props include a giant grinning pumpkin, a black cat, and Frankenstein’s monster, and lawn props include a stack of Jack-o-Lanterns, tombstones, ghosts, light-up skeletons, and even a floating ghost. The entire display is complemented by caution tape around the fence that surrounds the display, as well as many, many lights, including various twinkling ones on the front of the house. Overall, the display reminds us of Christmas, and definitely brings out the lighter side of the season. It’s a departure from the more horror oriented setups, and it’s definitely fun to look at for the entire family, especially if you have small kids. If you’re on the south side, get yourself a nice, hot drink and take a stroll by John’s Home Haunt. The kids will like it, and you probably will, too. |
