Haunted Garage is some of the most fun we've had at a haunted event in our many years of Touring. We just love that everyone here really seems to enjoy what they are doing and they try to put on a great show for visitors.
Located in Burbank, home to many haunts, such as Frightmare and The Nephilim, Haunted Garage is, as a name implies, a haunt that takes places in the property's garage. It also takes places in the backyard as well, with a walkthrough before entering the garage itself. Visitors line up in front of the house, where there is wait entertainment in the form of some live actors. This year we had a creepy nurse and some younger zombies (who naturally didn't say much). Once it's their turn, visitors are lead into the backyard and the haunt begins. This year the beginning was completely revamped, and featured a clown rising out of a box and two coffins, which eventually opened to reveal Chucky and his bride. It was quite cool to see. A little further on was a bedroom scene featuring Reagan from The Exorcist. As her head spun around, visitors were treated to actual audio clips from the movie - a nice combination! And speaking of cool audio clips, there were also samples of Bela Lugosi from 1931's Dracula. How cool is that! A couple of other cool features of the backyard portion were a masked woman holding an animated demon baby, who eventually came alive and followed visitors, and a guy with red glowing eyes who seemingly came from nowhere to surprise everyone. The remainder of the backyard portion consisted of walking around the back area where more jump scares awaited, until being led into the garage where visitors were greeted by perhaps the best thing about the Haunted Garage, and something that absolutely no other haunt has - DJ Mike Myers! Yes, that's right - our favorite horror movie character combined with a microphone and mixing board. DJ Mike Myers is a unique character who talks and makes all kinds of crazy sounds to unnerve visitors as they walk through the haunt. He's an example of the fun that everyone involved with Haunted Garage has, which translates to a great experience for visitors!
Inside the garage more scares await, including a couple of creepy clowns, room full of bodies (real and otherwise), and the final areas, which glows in the florescent lighting, and which holds a hilariously fun surprise at the end. That's not all, though, as DJ Mike Myers is back to greet visitors at the end of the haunt and usher them outside, where a chainsaw wielding manic awaits. Haunted Garage is a lot of fun - it's actually got some clever scares and creative scenes, and for a smaller home haunt it has a lot of actors who run the gamut from creepy to hilarious! If you're looking for some unusual and different fun during Halloween season, you need to check out the Haunted Garage. It's worth it for DJ Mike Myers alone. For this and other reasons, we're happy to say that the Haunted Garage was one of our top home haunts of 2014, and had earned it's place in the Horror Tourers 2014 Hall of Fame! |
