Graveyard on Roy Street is another of the many yard displays in the Oak Forest area, and it's one that has grown over the past few years into quite an interesting display.
The Tourers have been visiting the haunts in the Oak Forest area for several years now, and we always make a point of stopping by the Graveyard on the Roy Street when we are in the area. The 2012 display featured some creative tombstones, including one for "Johnny Wal;ker" of Johnny Walker liquor fame and infamous serial killer John Wayne Gacy, complete with disembodied clown head in front of it. In addition. the display features a life-size (death size?) coffin, a creepy looking old man with a long beard, and one of our favorite props - a skeleton in a bathtub. Why is the skeleton in the bathtub? Who knows, but that's what makes Graveyard on Roy Street interesting! Other setups include a long-haired skeleton guarding the fence around the display, a Dracula-like figure, and a cannibal display complete with various scattered body parts. Creepy lighting and cobwebs add to the overall effect. Graveyard on Roy Street features static props overall, but scores points for creativity and use of space. It certainly has grown from the much smaller display of two years ago, and fits in well with other nearby displays including Frankenstein's Wedding, Nightmare on Newport, and Jason's Campsite Massacre. The displays are more humours than scary, which makes it a good haunt to check out if visiting with younger children. We look forward to seeing what new features Graveyard on Roy Street has in store in years to come! |
