The Dungeon of Terror is a very interesting yard display and home haunt in Tinley Park, IL. The Tourers have been visiting this one since 2009, yest 2012 was the first time that they actually experienced it with live actors.

The haunted house portion itself is set up ion the garage, and when no one is home, the display is still open for visitors. A note explains that everyone is on camera, and visitors can walk through and see all of the animatronics. Overall, it's a nice setup even when no live actors are present. However, the live actors also add another dimension to the entire proceedings.

The haunt is divided by a series of black plastic bags, creating various corridors and nooks where props or people can hide, and making good use of the limited space available in the garage. Most of the props inside are animated in some way. from a shrieking ghost that hovers up and down, to a victim in an electric chair, to a ghoul that pops out of a coffin, to a giant spider that springs down from the ceiling, the display is set up very well. Again, even when no one is present, just looking at the various props on offer is worthwhile.

In 2012 there were a number of live actors outside of the haunt, including one dressed as a witch who led us into the haunt. Inside there were four actors, all younger children, including one dressed like the Mad Hatter. Although young, they all stayed in character and worked on finding inventive ways of scaring us.

The haunt is short - only about 4 minutes or so - but it is still interesting and fun for the entire family. It's not too scary, so don't be worried about bringing younger children. They will enjoy it, and you will, too!
