Cemetery de Balcony represents a first for the Horror Tourers. Not only is it a first time visit for us, it is also the first time we have seen a yard display where the "yard" was someone's apartment balcony. It's a clever setup, and one that makes excellent use of some very limited space.
As the title implies, this display is on a balcony. It's also on the third floor, so visitors can't get too close to it. The setup consists of a large metal cemetery gate, a Keep Out sign, and some flickering lanterns of various types. Additionally, if one looks closely enough, one can see a large, hooded figure on the left of the display holding a lantern. That's about all there is to it. However, despite the small number of props, they all are detailed and interesting, and the entire display is well list with a combination of blue, purple, and orange lighting. It makes for an interesting sight from the road, and is nice to see close up as well. We have to hand it to the creators for effective use of space as well as originality. It's not every day a patio is turned into a yard display, and Cemetery de Balcony does it very well. It's also not gory or scary, so it's appropriate for those with young children. |
