5904 W. 97th Street, Oak Lawn, IL
Year: 2014
Here's a fun display that we've been visiting for years - The Boneyard in Oak Lawn. This one has a cemetery them (surprise!) and fills the front lawn and porch of the house with various tombstones and characters, both creepy and amusing.
There are demons, ghouls, skeletons, zombies (even a zombie football player), and clowns all along the front yard, surrounded by an old wooden fence and well lit by colorful lighting. Walking up the pathway, one finds even more to look at, from a life size Freddy Krueger to a sign advertising the Bates Motel. One of the most interesting sights at the Boneyard is a row of jack-o-lanterns along the garage that feature movie characters, including Freddy, Jason, Chucky, Mike Myers, and even Beetlejuice, along with a nice Halloween-themed backdrop. We love the creativity on display here, and enjoy coming back year after year to see what's new and to revisit our old favorites. This one is not too scary, and most of the props are static, so it's safer to bring younger kids or those who are easily freaked out by Halloween stuff. If you're in the Oak Lawn area, make sure to stop at the Boneyard - it's part of what makes Halloween fun! |
