Set Design: 5/5
Actors: 3/5
Scare Factor: 3/5
VALUE: 2/5

Length:
15 min (2.5/5)

CHAINSAWS: 4/5

Great on set design, decent on actors, terrible on price. 13th Floor has a lot to look at but is only about 15 minutes long, and has a graded pricing scale, ranging from $19.99 for general admission on off days (usually weekdays) to $32.99 for general admission on Fridays and Saturdays (plus internet fees and taxes, which can bring a general admission total to almost $40).

Lines can be long, so it's best to get there early, get a Groupon deal for VIP tickets, or go on an off day. We'd still recommend getting there as early as possible, though, as lines get really long, and it's an additional $20 for VIP tickets.

Overall, for those who only go to one haunt a year, you might like 13th Floor. If you make a point of visiting many haunts, or if you've visited 13th Floor in the past, you might want to skip, as there are many other haunts out there that charge less and give you more experience or a lengthier haunt. 13th Floor doesn't change much from year to year, and the actors, while decent, aren't necessarily a reason to keep coming back. If you like good set design, though, 13th Floor excels in that department.

COMMENTARY

The bottom line? We love the set design, but set design alone can't make up for average actors, a short length, long lines, and a high, high price tag (one of the highest in Chicagoland). Unfortunately, with these larger multi-state haunt conglomerates such as 13th Floor and its sister haunt House of Torment, higher prices seem to be the way of the haunting future. We'd recommend looking early in the season for a two for one Groupon deal for VIP tickets or ,failing that, going during the week when prices are cheapest. Again, get there early (before they open) and beat the lines, as even with limited wait tickets ( the middle pricing option), you'll be paying over $30 on an off day and there still might be a long wait.
